6 Functions of Art

Image result for art that is pleasing to the eye
"The Echo Rock, Crozant" Armand Guillaumin, 1913

Delight

I picked this picture because of the color patterns and the simplicity behind it. When I saw it I noticed how the grass and leaves on the trees didn't have much detail to them. When you look at it you understand what you're looking at right away. Your eyes don't have to process as much so it makes looking at it more delightful and relaxing.

  Commentary
I picked this picture because it informs you that nature is the best medicine. The Pharma industry today is profiting off people that don't spend enough time outside and don't exercise enough. The oxygen mask connected to the tree is saying that we need nature to live and keep us alive. humans have been around for years because of all the medicinal benefits we find through out nature.

Worship and Ritual
I picked this artifact because it's, Siddhartha, the person who became the Buddha. After his death the religion know as Buddhism was formed. Buddhism proposes a life of good thoughts, good intentions, and straight living, all with the ultimate aim of achieving nirvana, release from earthly existence.

Twin Towers By Alan Carlson
Commemoration
I picked a picture of the Twin Towers because it reminds us what happened that tragic day. It shows firefighters and police officers raising a flag to show respect for America. The picture also shows the explosion of the plane going into the towers, that makes the picture bring out more emotion and memories.

Persuasion
I picked this picture because it shows the corruption in politics in America today. I hope people would open their minds to what politicians say and do by fact checking, and researching for themselves to see if what they say is the truth. The media has brainwashed people by spewing out propaganda and lies right in front of you through your own tv.

Banksy | art to some, heresy to others. Either way, it's the most appealing and compelling form of social commentary that I've ever witnessed.

Self-Expression
I picked this picture because the artist was under the influence on cannabis and expressed how he saw himself. When under the influence and drawing your emotions and creativity is enhanced in a way that makes you look and see things differently. The artist was in a more euphoric state making him paint more colorful and with detail.
